Reflexology for Little Feet (Part 1)

In this article, I want to encourage Moms and Dads to give their little ones a gentle foot massage often. I started giving my daughter a foot massage from the day she was born. She absolutely adores it. When it is time to go to bed two little feet are coming from the blanket. Smiling joyfully, she is waiting for her massage. Foot massage is soothing, comforting, and relaxing to her. She always drifts to sleep being massaged.

An old Japanese proverb says, “The foot is the gate of ten thousand different illnesses.” Your body's various organs, nerves, and glands are connected with certain “reflex areas” on the bottom of your feet. Reflexology is among the most powerful healing arts, that can profoundly improve a person’s overall well-being. ”100,000 nerve endings in each foot are ready for stimulation. Your continued health relies on this stimulation. If you are not going barefoot, then you need reflexology” (C.M. Miller). While it is always best to go to a certified reflexologist, there is a lot that you can do on your own, like walking barefoot on grass, sand, etc, or lovingly rubbing your feet, all of them.

Gently go from the heel to the bottom of each toe. Stroking, or making small steps with your thumb. Then rotate each toe, make gentle circles in each direction. Go up and down with a soft circular motion. Sinuses reflexes are on top of each toe. Holding the tips of each toe helps to release stuffy noses.

The “Solar plexus” point is potent at bringing an overall feeling of calmness and balance. Can help with hiccups.

Sing a rhyme, your favorite song, or hum while massaging little feet. Kids love it. Make eye contact. Send vibrations of love through your touch.

Simple, yet such an effective tool, that ignites the harmonizing power of Nature.
